- Oral papers are scheduled to last 20 minutes, including 15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for questions. Facilities will be made available for 35mm slides, overhead projection and Powerpoint (laptop PC, with floppy disc-drive and CD-ROM).
At registration, authors are requested to give a copy of their communications on CD-Rom or floppy-disc to the organization committee.

- Posters should be in size: 80mm x 120mm. They should be given on arrival at registration desk.

- Symposium Proceedings and special issue
We offer you the possibility to produce a Book of Proceedings after the Symposium on the condition a sufficient number of articles is reached. If interested, please bring a CD-Rom and a paper copy of your article at the symposium. You are requested to bring your manuscript in the format provided in attachment.
A selection of the submitted communications will be carried out by the scientific committee and will be proposed to international journals (Freshwater Biology, Archiv Für Hydrobiologie or Hydrobiologia).
We ask you please, to bring a CD-Rom and a paper copy of your article if possible at the symposium ; or please commit yourself to produce your article for February 15th, 2005 latest.

VENUE

Registration

The symposium will be held at the University of LYON 1 in Villeurbanne (Lyon urban area).

Registration will take place on December 7th afternoon from 14.00 to 18.30, in DARWIN building, 10 Avenue Claude Bernard, Entrance C (towards hall Caullery), 2nd floor, in meeting room no 242.
This building lies along the tramway T1 line, station: "Université Lyon 1". Entrance C is located 50 m further ahead on the righthand side of the line, when coming from Lyon.

Registration continues on December 8th at the CNRS entrance hall from 8.30 to 12.30.

Access to LYON
The city is served by an international airport and shuttle services (30 minutes drive to the city centre). An intercity station links directly Paris and Brussels (TGV trains). The city is also very well served by a wide road and motorways network and public transport. Further information about access to Lyon can be found by visiting the following websites:

From the Eastern ring road (Rocade Est A46), follow the way out 1B, direction Croix-Luizet, then follow "La Doua" direction, finally "Domaine Scientifique de La Doua".
From boulevard Laurent Bonnevay, take way out no 6, "Porte de Croix-Luizet", then follow direction: "Domaine Scientifique de La Doua"
From Boulevard du 11 novembre 1918 in Villeurbanne, enter at:
- 43 boulevard du 11 novembre 1918
- or 27-29 boulevard du 11 novembre 1918 for registration on Tuesday 7th (see map for location).
- 2 Avenue Albert Einstein to find the CNRS. Car park is available along this road or in front of the building.

By plane:
Arrival at Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport (20 kms away east from Lyon)
Take the bus shuttle service (SATOBUS) to the central Part-Dieu railway station (every 30 min during the week days). Then take the T1 tramway line direction IUT-Feyssine. Get off at "Université Lyon 1" station for registration on 7th Dec and "La Doua – Gaston Berger" station to reach CNRS.

By train:
Arrival at Part-Dieu or Perrache railway stations: in both cases, take the tramway line T1 and follow direction "IUT-Feyssine", as explained above.

Payment can be made by bank transfer or by cheque in Euros on reception of our invoice, cash on arrival at the registration desk. Payment by credit card can be made on registration on 8th December morning only.

In order to claim the student discount, applicants must present proof of full time enrolment at a degree-granting university or college for the academic year 2003-2004. A photocopy of a current student card or a letter from your departmental administration must be attached to your registration form.

The fees for registered participants include: welcome Reception, attendance at the official opening session, closing session, delegate bag and meeting documents, badge, book of abstracts, food and beverages during breaks from Wednesday to Friday.

The fees for accompanying persons include: attendance at the welcome Reception, official opening and closing sessions, badge and delegate bag, information material. The fee for accompanying persons does not include attendance to the scientific sessions or any of the scientific material.

All refunds will be subject to a 20 € cancellation fee. No refund will be granted after 1st November 2004.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The Welcome Reception will take place on Tuesday 7th November at 19.00 in the Villeurbanne town hall in presence of the mayor of the city.

The Conference Dinner is organised on Tuesday 9th starting at 20.15 in a restaurant located in the "Parc Tête d'Or" nearby. Departure of the bus to the restaurant is planned at 20.00 in front of the CNRS gate.

The most vivid custom in Lyon is to light small candles on windowsills in the night of December 8th (religious feast since 1852, in celebration of Nativity of the Virgin and anniversary of a pledge by the magistrates in 1643 for protecting the city from the plague). All monuments and historic areas of the town centre will be illuminated from 8th to 11th december.
